Increased Asian collaboration in fight against avian flu

Abstract

Health ministers and officials from 13 southeast and east Asian countries have pledged to enhance collaboration in the fight against avian influenza. In a joint statement at the closing session of a meeting on avian influenza (November 25–26; Bangkok, Thailand), they committed to “further strengthen international and regional collaboration on all aspects of the avian influenza response”, including cases and outbreak investigation, research, and risk communication.
