Hand, foot, and mouth disease outbreak reported in Singapore

Abstract
An outbreak of hand, foot, and mouth disease has resulted in four deaths in Singapore since Sept 10. About 1000 cases, all of whom are children, were reported after the disease was made legally notifiable with effect from Oct 1. Most of the patients developed symptoms between Oct 1 and Oct 4, according to a government press statement issued on Oct 10.
