Description
Dr. Vellani joined the Aga Khan Hospital and Medical College Foundation in November 1979 as Associate Dean of the Medical College, where he played a pivotal role in its formative years. Over the course of his career at the Aga Khan University (AKU), he held several key leadership positions, including Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine, Associate Dean for Education, and eventually served as Rector of the University from 1997 to 2001. In later years, he remained actively involved in research and was the first at AKU to file patents. He continued his contributions for as long as his health allowed.
The following are selected excerpts from oral history interviews with Dr. Vellani, conducted in recent years.
