Abstract
Considered as a multidimensional construct, student engagement has been the focus of educational research for over a decade. Educational researchers have been interested in student classroom engagement because it is opined as one of the ways through which student academic achievement, which has been cited as poor in physics, can be improved. Unfortunately, physics teachers in Kenya have not been able to engage their learners leading to the poor performance in physics. Studies have shown that multimedia integration in teaching and learning enhances student classroom engagement. The current study therefore aimed to examine the relationship between multimedia integration in the teaching and learning of physics. A quantitative approach based on Quasi – experimental design was adopted for this study with a control group (taught using conventional methods) and the experimental group (taught using multimedia). A t-test analysis indicates that there was a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group post – test mean scores with the experimental group performing better.
