Abstract
Creation and adaptation for guidelines implementation relating to the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric neurologic disorders for local settings should be a priority. Guidelines should be in a practical format that are easily understood by practitioners and published in languages of local use. The Intersectoral Global Action Plan on Epilepsy and Other Neurological Disorders (IGAP) is an important resource that can promote leveraging of this process. High-quality practice guidelines should be widely distributed to raise awareness of key users. Well-devised registries should be established and accurately maintained to develop evidence-based recommendations using specific information collated from affected populations. Guidelines, specific to child neurology practice, are needed to adapt for viable practice in the local setting without the risk of loss of good practice, and where innovative locally based, low-cost interventions can often lead to even better outcomes. Through collaborations between low- and high-income institutions, enhanced and improved outcomes are possible.
