This abstract book presents the proceedings of the first Department of Emergency Medicine Research Retreat held in 2012 at Aga Khan University, Karachi. It includes welcome messages, programme details, and 60 research abstracts categorized into themes such as surveillance, clinical research, education, and interventions. The retreat aimed to foster research collaboration and highlight the growing scholarly contributions of the department. The event was supported by the Fogarty International Center, NIH, under the Johns Hopkins-Pakistan Fogarty International Collaborative Trauma and Injury Training Program.
