The mission of WFUMB is to bring sustainable ultrasound programs to the underserved areas of the world to improve global health care through collaboration, communication and education. WFUMB has developed centers of education and organizes courses and congresses. Safety issues play a central role. Before 2013, WFUMB publications concentrated on reports and safety issues. Since then, they have focused on educational publications to provide professional support to clinicians working with ultrasound and to promote best practice through the development of guidelines and technical papers.
