Introduction:

This workshop is intended for all practicing doctors, nurses and health care professionals who need to counsel/educate/advise patients and families to change habits that are detrimental to health, especially in the context of Non-Communicable Diseases. Counseling approaches and strategies based on models of behavior change will be discussed and practiced.

Objectives:

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

  • Discuss barriers and challenges to behavior change in the management of NCD’s
  • Discuss evidence based models of behavior change
  • Practice behavior change strategies to counsel patients to change unhealthy behaviors

Workshop Format and Methods:

Case studies, role plays, presentations, and small group activities etc

Suitable for:

Physicians, General Practitioners, Sub-Specialists(Endocrinologists, Cardiologists, Internists etc.), Nurses, residents, Interns
